Our Sub-Zero experience

Sub-Zero units are built differently from ordinary refrigeration, and we treat them that way. Our team has 10+ years of experience and more than 9,473 completed jobs behind it. On the Sub-Zero side, we handle:

  • Built-in and full-size refrigerators
  • Freezers, including units that slowly lose temperature
  • Ice makers and water supply issues
  • Sealed systems — compressors, evaporators, and refrigerant leaks
  • Condenser maintenance and evaporator fans
  • Air and water filter replacement
  • Diagnosing EC40/EC50 codes and Service warnings on the display

Recent Sub-Zero work in the area includes a five-hour sealed-system repair in Manhattan Beach, a freezer refrigerant-leak repair in Rancho Palos Verdes, and a 40-minute evaporator fan replacement, also in Rancho Palos Verdes.

Common Sub-Zero symptoms we're called for

  • Refrigerator or freezer section running warm
  • Compressor running constantly without reaching temperature
  • EC40, EC50, or Service warning on the control panel
  • Frost or ice buildup inside the freezer
  • Ice maker producing little, no, or bad-tasting ice
  • Water pooling under or inside the unit
  • Loud humming, clicking, or fan noise
  • Door not sealing or closing properly

How we diagnose it

Here is how a visit works. You get a text 20–40 minutes before the technician arrives. The technician inspects the unit, identifies the fault, and gives you a written quote before any repair begins — no hidden fees, and no surprises on the invoice. If you approve, most repairs are completed on the spot or as soon as the part is in hand. Every completed repair carries a 1-year warranty by default, and select repairs are covered for up to 2 years.

Safe checks before you call

Before you call, a few things are safe to check yourself:

  • Confirm the unit has power and the circuit breaker has not tripped.
  • Make sure the doors close fully and the gaskets seal without gaps.
  • Check the control panel — settings can get changed accidentally, and Sabbath or showroom-style modes can mimic a failure.
  • Verify vents and grilles are not blocked by food, packaging, or dust.
  • If your owner's manual describes cleaning the accessible condenser grille, doing so can restore cooling performance.
  • Write down any error code on the display — it speeds up diagnosis.

Leave everything beyond that to a technician. Sub-Zero refrigeration components are not a DIY territory.

Troubleshooting guides

Repair or replace?

With a built-in Sub-Zero, replacement math is different from a freestanding fridge. The unit is sized to your cabinetry, often panel-ready to match it, so swapping it out can mean carpentry and paneling work on top of the appliance itself. That is why a targeted repair — even a major one like a sealed system — is often the sensible choice. Factors we walk through with you: the age and overall condition of the unit, whether the failure is isolated or one of several, and how the repair cost compares to a full replacement including installation. We give you the diagnosis and the quote; the decision stays yours.

Sub-Zero repair questions

What warranty comes with a Sub-Zero repair?

Every completed repair carries a 1-year warranty by default. Select repairs are covered for up to 2 years. The warranty terms are stated on your invoice, so you know exactly what is covered.

How quickly can a technician come out?

We offer same-day or next-day appointments in most cases. Phones and online booking are available 24 hours a day Monday through Friday, Saturday 9 AM–3 PM; we are closed Sunday. You will get a text 20–40 minutes before the technician arrives.

What should I prepare before the visit?

Clear access to the front of the unit, and note anything useful: when the problem started, any error codes on the display (such as EC40 or EC50), and any sounds or leaks you have noticed. If the freezer is warming, move critical food to a cooler if you can.
