Sub-Zero Temperature Sensor Repair
| Appliance | Sub-Zero |
| Location | Gardena, CA |
| Reported symptom | Ice building up on the rear wall of the compartment |
| Work performed | Diagnosed a failed temperature sensor misreporting compartment temperature and driving the cooling cycle incorrectly; replaced it with an OEM sensor and confirmed stable temperatures. |
What happened
Frost forming on the back wall is a symptom, not a fault. The unit was cooling on a bad reading: a failed sensor reported the compartment warmer than it was, so the system kept running and moisture kept freezing where the airflow hits the wall.
An OEM sensor corrected the reading, and the cycle returned to normal — no ice, no over-run.
