Viking Range Igniters & Gas Odor
| Appliance | Viking |
| Location | Hermosa Beach, CA |
| Reported symptom | Range took too long to light and smelled of gas before ignition |
| Work performed | Found worn igniters allowing gas to flow well before ignition; replaced them with OEM igniters and verified prompt, clean lighting. |
What happened
This is the ignition fault we treat most urgently. A weak igniter lets gas flow while it slowly comes up to temperature, so gas pools before it finally lights — which is why the owner smelled it and why ignition eventually arrives with a thump instead of a quiet catch.
Replacing the worn igniters with OEM parts brought lighting back to where it belongs: immediate, with no gas odor beforehand.
